Home Theater

Project

Project Type: Home Theater

Challenge: The goal was to have a home theater with best in class sound and video for the full theater experience while at the same time keeping noise in the rest of the house to a minimum..

Solution: To achieve this, Kinetics Noise Control products were used to float the walls and ceiling off the main structure of the house to eliminate vibrations, keeping the sound in the room and preventing it from escaping. Decorative fabric wrapped acoustical panels where then used to add comfort and improve sound by reducing echo and reverberation. When you just walk into the room, you can feel and hear the difference. It is quiet.

A 7.2.4 Dolby Atmos configuration was installed using Monitor Audio CP Controlled Performance line of speakers. Three Monitor Audio CP-IW260X 5-way speakers and two IW-S10 passive subwoofers were installed behind a 120” acoustically transparent Stewart Filmscreen. Four CP-WT380 in-wall speakers were used for surround sound hidden behind the same acoustic fabric used to cover the acoustic paneling. Four CP-CT380IDC 3-way ceiling speakers were used for the Dolby Atmos sound.

To power the speakers, we used a Marantz AV8805A 11.2 pre-amp, a MM8807 and a MM7055 amps to power the 9 speakers and a Monitor Audio IWA-250 sub amp to power the two subwoofers. The projector is a JVC DLA-RS2000. The Vantage EasyTouch II keypad was upgraded to a Vantage EQ40 touchscreen to more provide control of lighting scenes and even the audio and video. To control the audio, video, multiple video sources and even the lighting, an RTI T2i LCD touchscreen remote is used. To finish things off, we had the audio and video professionally calibrated to complete the perfect home theater experience.
