Project Type: Lighting Retrofit and Full Home Integration
Challenge: During a remodeling, the client wanted to take the opportunity to fully automate their home to include lighting control, distributed audio video and more.
Solution: A Vantage Infusion Controller was installed with a Vantage RadioLink enabler. Existing dimmers and light switches were removed and replaced with Vantage RadioLink EasyTouch II dimmers. This allowed for easy control of multiple lighting loads throughout the house. These keypads could also be used to control volume for audio, and control video, garage doors, fireplaces and more. 12 zones of audio were installed both inside the house and the backyard.
Over time, the client grew his system to include integration with the security system, HVAC, pool control and landscape lighting. Vantage EQ40 and EQ73 touchscreens were installed to provide convenience to control the entire home. Vantage’s astronomical clock turns on exterior lighting on at sunset each day and turns it off at sun rise. When the client goes to bed, a press of a single button in the master bedroom will turn off all interior lighting, arm the alarm, ensure the garage doors are closed and turn off all audio and video, allowing them to rest easy at night.
Hidden Monitor Audio invisible speakers become part of the wall and are controlled through a Vantage EQ73 touchscreen.
Canton Vento bookshelf speakers provide a superior sound than traditional ceiling speakers. Volume controls are located on the EasyTouch II dimmer keypad along with a button to control the fireplace.
The client can monitor the temperature of his wine cellar and listen to audio when he is enjoying the room
The thermostat was installed in the basement to eliminate wall clutter on the main floor. A sensor in the dining room is used in its place. The thermostat can be controlled from the EQ40 and EQ73 touchscreens and mobile apps.
Vantage Infusion controller, two Vantage 850D DA distributed amplifiers, the garage 5.1 receiver and sub amp, music sources, network switches and more centralized in the AV rack.
To keep audio levels lower to be considerate to the neighbours, 4 zones were installed. Far pool side, ceiling speakers under the deck, on the deck and right beside the hot tub. You can hear music from any location in the backyard without having to crank the volume. The automation system also controls the pool, running preset timers to circulate and skim the pool, controls for pool lights and the waterfall.
TV and 5.1 surround sound in the garage. The Vantage system also controls the garage door and the lights with a motion sensor. The system also checks the status of the garage door and will close it automatically if left open too long.
