South East Oakville Retrofit
Project
Project Type: Lighting Retrofit and Audio Integration
Challenge: The home owner was adding an extension to the master bedroom’s walk-in closet. The shelving, mirrors and windows did not leave enough space for the dimmers to control the 5 loads of lighting. There was space for only one switch.
Solution: A Vantage IC Din Lite II was installed with RadioLink capability. One EasyTouch II dimmer with 5 LED backlit engraved buttons was installed in the closet to provide dimming capability to one of the loads. The other 4 dimmers were install away in the near mechanical room. The dimmer in the closet was programed to control all five loads in the room.
The client then had 22 individual timers on lamps and switches throughout the house to automatically turn on the lights in the evening. The problem was that as the days got either longer or shorter, each timer had to be manually changed many times throughout the year. Since a Vantage Controls lighting was installed in the home, it could be utilized to control the timing of these lights with its astronomical clock. The system knows exactly what time the sun will rise and set for a given latitude and longitude. AccentPoint II wall plugs were installed for floor and table lamps and EasyTouch II RadioLink dimmers installed that controlled mounted light fixtures. The existing Russound distributed audio system was also integrated and Volume Up and Down buttons were installed on the EasyTouch II dimmers.
Another addition was added to the house later that year. More Vantage lighting control was installed for this area and further integration to include audio and video in the family room and low voltage relays to control the chandelier motors and fireplace. A custom made James Loudspeaker was made to seamlessly match a new 65” Samsung TV. And RTI T2i touchscreen remote controls the audio, video and lighting to complete the experience.
